Hi Yuka

What a great event, hope to see the movie sometime.

I'm sure I've mentioned I bought the book. I did start it but have taken on too many projects joined a new bookclub and was away on holiday in England plus working so I will wait to finish and enjoy better when more time.

Read in another posting you saw Catherine Deneuve, an actress I like.

She is very elegant lucky you getting to see her and hear what she has to say in person.

Best wishes...mary.

Unfortunately I couldn't get tickets to that showing but I did see the movie later and I rather liked it. But I believe it's not going to please everyone.

Hi guys, can I join in a conversation ?

Photography and soundtracks are good.
I’m not a super Haruki-fan but read this original novel several times.
Must be a very big pressure for Mr. Trần Anh Hůng to direct this movie.
Strongly reminded this is his interpretation of Norwegian Wood,
(and of course ) not reader’s or audience’s own interpretation of his or her N.W.
For those non Japanese speakers, it may be difficult to recognize
the way or tone of the speech of the characters which seemed sometime
bit odd and ………… I think I can talk hours on this film……………….
Helga, I’ll let you know personally what I really think after you’ve watched this film. Wink

Can't say i'm missing the snow there Razz

I think one probelm some fans will have is the same as many have with most book to film adaptations. Some line or scene is left out and for them it's not Norwegian Wood unless it has those lines/scenes etc. Also it's quite a popular novel but I think the movie will have less mainstream appeal because a lot of people are unfamiliar with Trần Anh Hůng's style.
I've heard some people complain that there isn't enough talking in it. But in my view it's unnecessary to add voiceover to scenes that 'show' what can only be described in the novel. So I think there will be some unfair criticisms.

Hello Yuko - and Thank you, Paul !

For me as Murakami and Tran Anh Hung sympathiser, your comments makes me more and more curious. Sounds promising for me, cause I like these more "difficult", challenging and lasting movies - ; )
Hope I´ll not have to wait too long to watch it in Austria !

Have a pleasing weekend !
Helga
