Ladies and Gentlemen,

End of the wait.

Vogue Uomo, Sept. 2009 Issue
It has two covers, one with Giuseppe Tornatore and an alternative on with Morgan Freeman.

Title: 66° Mostra del Cineme di Venezia
Starring: Worldwide Talents

Tony - very dashing in a dark blue velvet (or is it suede?) suit and open collared white shirt against a rough dark blue wooden panelled screen, a single naked lightbulb casts a light that makes him even more dramatic - is in the contents at the voice:

The Stars.

I'll send the text and translation. For the photograph I need help.

Kiss
Mimma

Helga, dear,
I can't hide I am slightly unsatisfied, because even having the same space reserved to other protagonists, Tony is put on a "pair page", meaning - one three five... are the first that wer happen to see and read. Two, four and so on are sort of hidden.

I think also that the magazine will go back on Tony later in the year. He is not competing in Venice, but in November "Red Cliff" will be in the italian movie theaters.

Section: "The Cast" of the Uomo Vogue sept

Tony Leung
Hong Kong
By Wing Shya

(Abito e camicia Burberry Prorsum. Fashion editor Jacky Tam) Francesca Felletti

There are also portraits of, of course, Ang Lee, but also of Tuan Zhuangzhuang, director of the 1993's "The Blue Kite", secretly sent to Cannes and that provoked his career a nine years stop

Translation ASAP

Regarded as one of the biggest actors in his Country, the "Clark Gable with almond eyes" is probably the asian actor most recognized in the West and the finest. Fortyseven years old, born in Hong Kong, Tony Leung worked with the biggest chinese and japanese directors and went through every gender of film: from "City of Sadness" by Hou Hsiao-Hsien (Venice Golden Lion in 1989) to "Cyclo" by Ahn Hung Tran (other Golden Lion in '95), from Infernal Affairs" by Andrew Lau (2002) to "Lussuria" by Ang Lee (another of many Golden lions in 2007). Not to mention the several films with Wong Kar-Wai, one the role plaied in the successful "In the Mood for Love" (2000), a film which earned him the Best Actor award at the Cannes Film Festival.
"I have been very lucky to work with the best directors of my generation", declares the actor. "Especially, my collaboration with Wong Kar Wai is unique: after seven films shot together, we built a quiet
comprehension and a strong respect for each other. He shows me some guidelines but lets space to my creativity".
These days Leung is shooting with Kar-Wai "The grand master", a biopic on Bruce Lee's mentor, that costed him one year of hard martial arts training and, recently, a broken arm on the set. "If somene would put together all my characters would discover who I really am". last year he married his longtime girlfriend, the actress Carina Lau. (Suit and shirt Burberry Prorsum)

Bye, enjoy!!!!

Thank you Kat for information about the magazine.

So you could see the photos finally. Applause

Are the photos taken by Wing Shya ?
I like his photos with a very special mood, but I've read before that an Italian photographer was visiting HK specially for this photo session. Question
(Maybe that was not correct information)

Anyway, I will check the photos when this magazine is available in Japan.

I wonder what "If somene would put together all my characters would discover who I really am" means.
I guess Tony means something like "A little bit of all the characters' personalities he has been played, stays with himself".
And probably it also means there always has been some part of real Tony in all the roles. As Tony said, "the roles are fiction, but the feelings are real".

Ladies and Gentlemen,
I scanned the ONLY photo of Tony and had it sent to my mail, to forward to Info or Hamberger.
It is not arrived yet. If it doesn't arrive as soon as possible I would go to the shop again to ask what happened.

Even so, given that it is only one photo, and that I think Vogue Italy in Asia can be quite expensive, just wait for my pic.

I think that yes, the photographer was the one mentioned above.
There was also an asian fashion editor, but I'm fairly sure that an italian was sent to HK to control things over.
The choice of dress is something totally alien to asian people, a lot less to european in general and italians in particular.
As I told you, it can be velvet or even suede dyed dark blue. Aiming to a both extreme and classy look it succeeeds, but it's nowhere close to what I've seen so far in asian fashion shows. And the stark naked setting is both minimal and emotional, like a zen garden.

To close this letter, I am sure there are other photos, but the publisher would use them at a later date, right before the italian opening of "Red Cliff". This issue was dedicated to Venice, where Tony is not in competition. If somehow Red Cliff would be presented at the Rome Film Festival, then they would dedicate more pages to him.

RIFF would be at the end of october and Red Cliff opening is scheduled for the beginning of November.

Let's wait and see.

Keep you posted.
Bye
