Thank you for the music news summertime !
Sometimes I love schmalzy oldfashioned style of Cantopop but on the other hand I love Jay Chouīs own stile - is very talented and unique but always something new too! Khalil Fong is also very nice !
Different music for different moods !
Is there something new about David Tao ? Which chinese Hip Hopers could you recomment -? |

You're welcome Safran
I so agree with you, it really depends on your mood.
I'm afraid I'm not current - I don't think there's been anything new with David Tao.
I don't listen to enough hip hop to really recommend anything.
I recently came across LMF on youtube. In some ways, a breath of fresh air, in the sense of the topics they tackle, but definitely not for everyone - a far cry from Cantopop - and they disbanded in 2003. |

It's funny that you mentioned him, because after reading your comment, Safran, I looked him up YouTube. He has a fantastic voice and a different image to the other singers (dare I say slightly geeky?, I don't mean that in a bad way!). Also is Khalil his English name? It doesn't sound Chinese. Could you tell his Chinese name? Anyway going back to topic, I love Jay Chou and Wang Leehom, but Khalil is a completely different kettle of fish. Also you brought up David Tao, (doesn't he write Jay's songs for him?) his voice is great as well! |

Yes, Khalil is his English name.
His Chinese name is 方大同.
In Cantonese - jyutping - Fong1 Daai6 Tung4.
In Mandarin - pinyin - Fang1 Da4 Tong2. |

Do you by any chance mean American Born Chinese? If so, yes, I think he was born in Hawaii. |

I've heard that Leehom has been referred to as an ABC before as well, according to Wikipedia. Anyway, going back to topic I'm getting Jay's Fantasy, Still Fantasy and The Eight Dimensions albums!
