This year the Chinese community celebrates the first of them came to Rotterdam one century ago. This weekend the annual Wordport Manifestion is held in my hometown. It started yesterday in the harbour with a huge dragon built up with thousands of lightbulbs.
Rotterdam and Shanghai are officially bonded cities.
I just wanted to share with all of you guys....

Exactly, the first Chinese was an seaman, no doubt. Katendrecht was the place for seaman to go on shore and go out, a red light district and our Chinatown. Prostitution was swept away from "de Kaap" as Katendrecht is also called, from the late nineteen eighties. And Chinatown is now concentrated around our Kruiskade... Katendrecht has become trendy again on recent years. New housing was built, there is a theater and a few years ago a famou s cruiseship named ss Rotterdam was bought back to De Kaap. it's a big hotel, there are several restaurants on board. It's having a difficult timing because of the recession...
If the is more to share I will keep you informed....
