Days of Being Wild (1991), Ashes of Time (1994), Chungking Express
(1994), Happy Together (1997), In the mood for love (2000), 2046(2005), The Grandmaster(2013)
Wong Kar-Wai has been the most influential director in Tony's film
career. In the films they had worked together, they highlight the
best of Tony & WKW's career. In essence, they grow together,
searching for the artistry they both believe in. Now WKW is not only
Tony's favorite director, he's also his boss. Tony gave Jet Tone
exclusive rights to manage him. Thus no doubt we will be seeing more
of the TLCW & WKW duel in the near future.
Flowers of Shanghai (1998), A City of Sadness (1988)
Even though Tony only manages to work under HHH twice in ten years, but
Tony often credits and compliments Hou in shaping his career.
A City of Sadness (1988) is the film that presented Tony on a
global scale.
Cyclo is the only international film Tony worked
on. He worked with the French-Vietnamese Director Tran Anh Hung,
whom he found a great rapping buddy. They are still quite
close. TAH comes and visits Tony from time to time. And he
also has a project for Tony to work on later in the year. (Hmm, if
Tony keeps good relationship with these directors, he would never be out
of job. Smart, don't you say!)
Heaven Can't Wait (1995)
Mack the Knife (1995)
The Returning (1994)
He Ain't Heavy, He's My Father (1993)
Two of a Kind (1993)
Tom, Dick, and Hairy (1993)
Days of Being Dumb (1992)
Though none of these films listed here are award winners, but I, for
one, enjoy all of these UFO films. I thought they provided a
different dimension and a highly entertaining platform for Tony. It
proves that he is not only an artistic film star, but also a very
practical one.
