|
|
Dear all,
Just yesterday I have bought the 'Chinese Odyssey 2002' dvd from HMV, which was excellent (the scene where Tony and Faye are stuck in the mud is the highlight of the film)..however, I was wondering whether Tony's voice was dubbed? The dvd case said the language was cantonese, but all the actors spoke in mandarin..Tony's voice was different to his usual voice..please could anyone clear this up for me, thanks!

If it is in Madarin, it is likely to be dubbed. Try changing the language settings to Cantonese to hear his real voice. |

Did you buy this DVD in the U.K.?
I believe the company called 'Tartan' that produced the DVD made a mistake and bought the Mandarin dub for this film. They also made this mistake with "As Tears Go By" and "Days of Being Wild".
They plan to re-release both "Tears Go By" and "Days of Being Wild" with the Cantonese audio tracks but the company said that they would not put any Cantonese track on "Chinese Odyssey".
Hope this information helps. |

Is it really in HMV?
I think I'll go spoil myself (I just recently bought Infernal Affairs I) and buy it, since I'm a fan of Tony and a new one of Faye Wong. |

Everybody in Chinese Oddessy originally mandarin, but sometimes in a role Tony changes his voice abit. I never seen that movie so I wouldn't know but I doubt that they dubbed it because he's mandarin is really good. |

I saw the Tartan version recently and yes, I think Tony's voice was dubbed by someone else. I thought all the way through the film his voice didn't sound like how I remembered and only found this out on the internet later on. I was sad about this and have now ordered the Cantonese version instead. |

Hi to you all,
i think that Chinese odyssey 2002 is wonderful in all its parts:
The game with the ancient moviola
the meeting of brother and sister, with the yellow paper on the mustaches like the wax for hair..
all the messy relationship between Tony and Faye
Have you forgotten the sister with the prince?
I think I never laughed so hard and so long in my life.
I wish there are other comedies this good around.
Kiss
