|
|
Hi, this is my first post to this forum.
I just *adore* Tony but have a long way to go on seeing all his movies. :)
Of course I love his work with WKW and highly recommend the box set with the five WKW movies. I also had a great time seeing Days of Being Wild at the Film Forum in New York City when it screened there a couple of months ago. (Also saw In the Mood for Love when it played here some years back.)
About Ashes of Time, there was a thread about the box set and Ashes on another Asian film board I read. Apparently the problem was two-fold: the rights to the movie are rather complicated and in dispute, plus the source material still exant on Ashes is in very bad shape and the company putting together the box set couldn't find a good enough print. And there was a further rumor that Wong Kar-wai is recutting Ashes of Time, so if we ever do see a decent DVD (the current Mei Ah version is not good but will do for the present) it may very well be a new version! |

i've bought the DVD earlier. There are actually 4 movies, Days of Being Wild, Chunghing Express, Fallen Angel and Happy Together. I've taken some photos of the package and posted at California Dreamer...

The Region 1 set released in the U.S. by Kino has five films: As Tears Go By, Days of Being Wild, Chungking Express, Fallen Angels, and Happy Together. All new anamorphic transfers and subtitles.
Here's the link to Kino's description of the box set:
