Thanks for letting us know, yitian!
Not sure if I should buy this version. I recently have bought the french version, I read somewhere this should be the version shown at the Berlinale . Unfortunately it`s only with french subs and my french is much worse then my already very bad cantonese - hahaha. _________________ Water which is too pure has no fish. |

Hello Heike
Do you still remember well "our" Berlin version ?
I have to confess: I'm totally confused meanwhile.
What is the length of the French version ...in the end ?
BTW: Although I missed Tony's voice ( of course ! ), I was positively surprised
about the German dubbed version....as well
I think it would be very interesting, to see and compare the HK Original....
with the obviously very different US interpretation of the Grandmaster.
( Or maybe we better should not "compare" at all .....?? )
Dear greetings to Bavaria

Amazon seems not very good at stating correct length for DVDs they sell . The French version I heard is not nearly as long as 144 minutes (more like 120 minutes), which makes it more or less like the Berlin version. Similarly, the US version is only 108 minutes (shown in theaters) but Amazon says 130 minutes . BTW, Heike, do you know whether or not your French DVD only contains Mandarin (as Amazon stated) or it contains both Cantonese and Mandarin ? |

Thanks Yitian.......I sometimes guess, amazon counts minutes from movie and "extras" together |

OK, let me have a quick look at the DVD.
...
Well, it looks like the same languages (canto and mandarin) as in the HK version.
And the duration of the movie is 118 minutes. Should be the Berlinale version. _________________ Water which is too pure has no fish. |

So you can hear Tony's voice - that's all I care about - Thanks for the info, Heike .
Maybe one day you will also get a German version that is identical to the French and Berlineale version except the subtitle . |

Yes I can hear his voice, well, it would be nice to understand a little as well.
The German version will be released on November 29. Not sure if I should buy it - since it`s dubbed. yuck
