Nice to see these pix here ham, thanks so much for posting Very Happy .

The movie, 《猎狐行动》(directly translated as "Operation Fox Hunt"), is Tony's new film. There was a report saying that the shooting is starting imminently in France, and the movies could be released in October this year.

The following is an article in Chinese (there is a video in the article). People who are interested can translate using Google translate - it gets better these days. I will post English articles if I see them

France offers to help China catch fugitives in Operation Fox Hunt

China to send French authorities a list of suspects wanted for economic crimes
Reuters Published: 3:52am, 3 Dec, 2014
https://www.scmp.com/news/china/article/1654354/france-offers-help-china-catch-fugitives-operation-fox-hunt

France was ready to help China track down fugitive corruption suspects who might be on French soil, and did not rule out extraditing any it found to Beijing, a French justice ministry official said.

As part of an anti-corruption drive under President Xi Jinping , China is pursuing overseas-based fugitives in a campaign known as Operation Fox Hunt.

Robert Gelli, the French justice ministry's director of criminal affairs, said Chinese authorities would soon send French officials a list of people suspected of "getting rich from corruption and seeking refuge in other countries, or investing this money in other countries".

The list was expected to contain about 10 names, of whom two or three were thought to be in France, Gelli said. The rest might be elsewhere in Europe, but have existing or previous links to France.

China has arrested 288 fugitives suspected of committing economic crimes, Xinhua has said, citing activities in 56 countries. The Washington-based Global Financial Integrity Group estimates that US$1.08 trillion illegally flowed out of China from 2002 to 2011.

The three most popular destinations for corruption suspects are the United States, Canada and Australia.

China does not have extradition treaties with these countries but, according to reports, Australian police said in October they would help Beijing find and seize the assets of corrupt Chinese officials.

A Franco-Chinese extradition treaty agreed in 2007, despite opposition from human rights groups, has still not been ratified by France's parliament.

But Gelli, who last month visited his counterpart in Beijing, said the possibility of handing back suspects to China was "not at all excluded" if China met French demands and agreed not to impose the death penalty. Any extraditions would need to go through an appeals court and be signed by the prime minister.

For its part, France has asked China for more help in investigating illegal wire transfers, which have risen sharply in the past two years. Officials say French companies have lost some 300 million euros (HK$2.9 billion) in this manner, the bulk of it ending up in Chinese bank accounts.

France had made 70 requests for cooperation from China in its investigations since 2010 but had received very low response rates, Gelli said.

French Foreign Minister Laurent Fabius has visited China more often than any other, with nine trips since May 2012.

BEIJING, May 27 (Xinhua) -- A new movie portraying China's Operation Fox Hunt, which targets economic fugitives, has started filming, according to the Ministry of Public Security.
Starring Tony Leung Chiu-Wai and Duan Yihong, the eponymous movie details China's manhunt of economic crime suspects who have fled overseas and is inspired by true events from the special campaign launched in 2014.
The movie aims to deter fugitives, safeguard the authority of the law, encourage Chinese police to better perform their duties and raise public awareness to prevent economic crimes, according to an official from the Ministry of Public Security.
The movie will be filmed in different places around the world, including Beijing, Shanghai, Paris and Normandy.

Another news article about the press conference and the movie

'Fox Hunt' film launched in Beijing
By Zhu Bochen May 28, 2019
http://www.china.org.cn/arts/2019-05/28/content_74830220.htm

Details about the producers, cast, and background stories related to the film "Fox Hunt" were revealed at an official launch in Beijing on May 24.

Produced by Shanghai Film Group Corporation (SFG), the film is based on true stories of Operation Fox Hunt, a global Chinese anti-corruption initiative managed by the Ministry of Public Security (MPS) since 2014, which aims to track down and repatriate fugitives accused of corruption. "Fox Hunt" stands out as the first film in China to depict on the big screen the process of tackling cross-border criminal proceedings and extraditing fugitives under the Interpol Red Notices.

Throughout its three-year preparation, "Fox Hunt" found tremendous support from different organs of the MPS for conveying the successful experiences and mechanisms of international police cooperation, as well as joint efforts to tackle cross-border economic crimes.

During the launch ceremony, the Operation Fox Hunt Team of MPS, specializing in overseas fugitive affairs, made their public debut in the hopes that the film will raise public awareness about the efforts of the MPS to battle illegal fundraising and combat financial crimes.

Speaking at the launch ceremony, Meng Qingfeng, deputy minister of Public Security, said that since Operation Fox Hunt's inception in 2014, over 4,300 Chinese fugitives suspected of committing corruption have been arrested and repatriated from more than 120 countries and regions, with a total 17 billion yuan (about US$2.46 billion) in illegal funds being seized.

"It was by no means an easy task to make this film because, for one thing, it is rather important to keep the authenticity of the original law enforcement procedures to the public; and for another, it matters equally that this film shouldn't simply become a publicity campaign for 'perfect' police figures," Meng said. "Thus, different organizations and governmental bodies involved in the production of this film, especially the MPS, were highly responsible to provide support when needed," he added.

Regarding support from the MPS for the film industry, "Fox Hunt" is not the first or only case. In September 2016, "Operation Mekong," an action film about drug traffickers in the Golden Triangle of southeast Asia, told the true story of the murder of 14 Chinese crew members in the Triangle area on Oct. 5, 2011, with the help of strong support from the MPS. Similar cases can be found in the film "Operation Red Sea," released in February 2018, and others.

When asked why he chose this subject, producer Ren Zhonglun said, "Fox Hunt" is our way of honoring the heroes who have been dedicated to China's anti-corruption campaign. With film stars like Tony Leung Chiu-wai and Duan Yihong's joining the cast, this film should create good memories of the young generation in China.

As this year marks the 70th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China, the film is expected to play a significant role in raising awareness so as to prevent economic crimes and demonstrate the fairness and justice of Chinese society.
