It would be great if "The Grandmaster" would be shown at the Berlinale. As far as I know, HK movie releases mostly (always? please somebody correct me if I`m wrong) have english subs. Therefore, let`s just hope ... and dream. _________________ Water which is too pure has no fish. |

Hallo neighbour - and movie friends
( Apropos: I meant, subtitling probably needs the more time )
Although the official deadline for film festival entry is over (see on link above - under "professionals") ..... I did read also:
"The festival director has the right to settle any cases not covered by the regulations"
Guess no festival director ever would let pass/neglect the chance, to screen (whether in competition or not) the international long awaited, new oeuvre of WKW (who is Jury president also)- on his festival ( ....given that he gets the chance)
Another question is : Is it in WKW´s interest to screen "The Grandmasters" out of competition (?)...as "European premiere" (?).....in Berlin ?? - or will he prefer a competition.... on a famous Int. Filmfestivals - where ever ??.....or, as well as ??
My most important question: Will Tony really accompany WKW, when TG will be screened in Berlin ?? (I keep on hoping....and dreaming )
So far my personal naive speculations |

Thanks Helga for the information about Berlin Film Festival and informative speculations. I kind of wonder if it is less of a "maybe" for Tony to go now. But surely WKW will be there . Let's hope both Tony and WKW will be there . |

The Grandmaster will be presented as the opening film in the official selection, but screening out of competition.
The world premiere of The Grandmaster will be celebrated on January 8, 2013 in China, and the film will open at cinemas in numerous countries including Germany in spring 2013. The film¡¦s distributor in Germany will be Wild Bunch.
I wonder where in China on 8 January ? Isn't it just a release date in China ? |

Tin-Yau, what do you mean ?
I am sure The Grandmaster is going to be there.
It is not likely to show the opening film without the main actor. |

Oh, I see.
I thought you were not so sure about Tony's appearance in Berlin.
Tony's "ha ha" and "hahaha" should made both of you more motivated. |
